Spring Break in September: Valle de Elqui

As the pics reflect, there were 3 main components that made this an unforgettable trip

  • nature.  It was SO NICE to get out of the city for a minute, go somewhere where things moved a little slower, be in a beautiful and peaceful (semi)arid climate.
  • physical activity.  We biked 14 k to an artisan fair, and the next day decided to pick a random mountain along the road and climb it.  Using my body to do sweet things in sweet locations is the best feeling ever.
  • my travel buddies.  I was lucky to be with an awesome group of fun and fascinating people for the week.

This trip was also a reminder of how much I just generally love traveling.  (Could have a bit to do with my upbringing perhaps?) I actually enjoyed our long bus rides because I could just sit and think or chat for hours at a time while looking at beautiful scenery.  I love the feeling of being in transit in some weird in-between place.  I loved the feeling of freedom to just go somewhere new and figure things out when we got there.  And even more, I loved how after coming back from this trip, my Recreo apartment felt even just a little bit more like home.

I still have the desire to someday make pics from this trip into something artsy and cool.  I got a lot of sweet video footage too.  But we’ve been back for a whole week so I figured I’d post at least some stuff right now.

PS: Yes, Queen Beez, I’ve been reppin you everywhere I go :)
